Ubuntu 64-Bit playing L4D Via Wine

I took some screen captures while playing Left 4 Dead. I am running it via Win 1.1.25.

I was getting fairly decent frame rates, around 22-35 depending. That was also while running the gtk-recordmydesktop screen capture application. For some reason the audio was stripped out. There is a new version of wine out, I plan to upgrade, tweak it some more and give that a try. I did have the shading turned way down just to increase FPS performance.

Video was recorded in OGV, and edited in Kdenlive

For those curious this machine is running:

AMD Phenom II Quad Core 2.2
8 GB Memory
Nvidia BFG GTX260
500 GB WD HDD

I will have more to come after trying out Wine. 1.1.26.

Second Ubuntu Packaging Training Session

According to the ubuntu-packaging blog, there will be a second Training session for those who missed the first one, or were confused. James Westby hosted the first training session, and the second will be hosted by Didier Roche tomorrow, April 16th, 2009 18:00 UTC. If you are interested in attending, just pop on over to IRC channel #ubuntu-classroom on irc.freenode.net.
